Stroll at Sunset

Well, it's been two months since I've posted on my blog. Since we lost my dear mother in law in July  I just haven't felt like painting. I'm slowly getting back into it. This painting was inspired by a sunset scene I saw posted and I made it my own with my strollers. Hard to believe skies can have this much color but they CAN and they DO! Jehovah God is an amazing artist! This is an oil painting on stretched linen and the size is 20 x 24" Price: $320

Shelleace's Bouquet

I've been at camp in Vermont for the past week and have been working on little watercolors. My dear friend Shelleace brought me this little bouquet of flowers from her garden and I had to try my hand at expressing it.  It's painted on  lightly toned pink watercolor paper. The image is 9 x 9".  Auction at Daily Paintworks starts at $25

Two Apples and A Cherry

I worked this still life with a different approach. I started with an under painting with transparent earth red and ultramarine blue concentrating only on values. I then slowly worked into brighter colors and purposefully worked towards a fresh approach, not focusing on a photographic replica, but a painterly finish. 9 x 12" linen panel. This will be for sale through the Daily Paintworks auction starting at $45.

Egglip

This is one of those paintings that I took some time with. It was more difficult to draw that one might think. I loved the fabric and had to keep from painting it more realistically. In the end, I still had to glaze it in order to not have it compete with the eggs and the tulips, or as I call it; the "Egglip".
16 x 12" Oil on Linen panel. $150.

Canoeing in Koreshan

When our friends, Richard and Bonnie came to visit in January, we spent a luxurious day on the Koreshan River with a canoe and kayaks. The Florida landscape there is a unique jumbled mix of air plants and mangroves. It was a peaceful and beautiful feeling to canoe through that river. I hope I captured the mood I felt. 16 x 20" Oil on Stretched Canvas. $275

Flowers From Mr. Mike's

I bought these gorgeous flowers from a vegetable stand in Bonita Springs called Mr. Mike's. I love Queen Anne's Lace and was drawn to the contrast they offer in a floral set up. Florals are probably my most favorite thing to paint with the exception of the human face!. 12 x 16" Oil on Panel.

Lucas

A friend commissioned this painting of her grandson, Lucas. She wanted the dog and the wagon as they had special meaning in the family too! She handed me 4 or 5 photos and I came up with this little painting in an  old time style. What a beautiful smile this little blue eyed boy has! 12 x 9 oil on linen panel.

Strolling Through The Water

I did a postcard sketch of this point at Guanaja Island last year. This is a studio painting of that same spot, but this time I wanted to add a figure. I thought the young woman added a nice feel to an already beautiful place.  It's easier to see ourselves there now. 9 x 12" Linen on panel

The Helpers

This painting
was inspired by a photograph in the 2016 Calendar of Jehovah's Witnesses. The women represent a few of the many volunteers in Dedza, Malawi who worked to build an Assembly Hall where Bible education will be available to the people in that area of the world. I love the explosion of color in their clothing and the beautiful smiles on their faces. 10 x 30" Oil on cotton stretched canvas.

Rosy Dogwoods

I painted this from a photo from an online class I'm taking. I struggle with getting the photograph correct, so this painting has a lot of mystery in it in real life. I'm working on using considerably more paint and purposefully not finishing every part of the painting.14 x 11" Oil on linen panel.
