Alyssa P 4/2012

Are you wondering why in the world this painting would have such a name? Well, as always, I'm trying to work on growing and becoming a better artist! With the help of some wonderfully experienced artists such as Karen Winslow and John Cooney, I'm on a quest to specifically work on portraits and the figure for a while. The letter "P" is for portrait and the date is self explanatory. John helped me out on this painting and I really like it because it has the essence of Alyssa and it feels alive to me.

"Ibis at Gulf Beach"

I'm happy with this painting. I'd like to do many more bird scenes. We could just sit and watch them for hours on the beach. The time of day was about 5 pm in December or January. We were having a picnic with friends and the lighting was very interesting. Just this light little glow on the the birds.

"Bridge at Bay Colony"

I painted a plein air of this painting first. I really enjoy starting with that and doing a more finished and larger painting in the studio. Just having that little painted sketch brings back all the memories from the spot. This is in Pelican Bay, Naples, Florida. It's a gorgeous area.

"Gerber"

This painting was done in Karen's studio. I brought these flowers from my daughter's second birth.  I only had a couple of hours on it. Karen also painted one and it came out beautiful. It was a great subject.
