Red Rose Study

This loose study allowed me freedom to focus on edges and values and not so much "the item I'm looking at". It was refreshing to paint more spontaneously. My natural inclination is not to paint that way but I feel painting with left AND right brain, or analytical AND creative gives the better result. What do you think? 9  x 12" Oil on linen panel.

Wooded Morning

Sunflowers and Ducky Alla Prima

Ok, so I'm getting hooked on toys. Can't help it! I wanted to paint sunflowers for the Daily Paint Works March challenge and Ducky caught my eye. It makes my serious still life not so serious. Kinda like ourselves. We shouldn't take ourselves too seriously!  12 x 9" Oil on Linen Panel.

One-Eyed Reading Time

I absolutely LOVE setting up toys to paint! Brycen (my 11 year old student) and I set this up and had so much fun painting it. I laugh the whole time I paint. It's great therapy! 11 x 14" Oil. Sold

Fishing in New York

So, a while ago, I went to this fabulous park in upstate New York with my brother Joe and nephew, Jacob. They went for a swim in the cool water and the shadows were long as it was quite early in the morning. It was a wonderful time with my brother and I am so happy to do a couple of paintings from that day. 12 x 9" Oil.
